What type of business is PostPilot best suited for?

Direct mail works best when we can target specific segments of customers and prospects with a relevant offer. Therefore, we recommend having at least $3M in annual store revenue to ensure the segment sizes are large enough to gather statistically relevant data and impact your overall business.

We work with all types of businesses. The type of business will help dictate what campaigns types are most suitable. For example, consumable products like food items, supplements and cosmetics are ideal for acquisition, retention, and reactivation campaigns, as are brands with an assortment of related products such as apparel, sporting goods, books, home decor, toys, and more.

MailMatch™ campaigns targeting prospects that have not yet converted are great for businesses that cater to more one-and-done, high AOV customers.

Postcards, especially handwritten cards, are an amazing way to thank a customer for their purchase and ask for reviews or referrals.

How do I measure campaign performance?

PostPilot automatically tracks each Shopify customer that receives a postcard or handwritten card for 60 days.

PostPilot also tracks coupon codes. If you create a unique coupon code for a campaign, you track all Shopify orders using that code. You can also upload and track Shopify single use unique coupon codes.

Keep in mind that customers hold on to their cards for an average of 17 days, compared to just a few seconds for email. Therefore, direct mail often has a longer conversion window than other marketing channels.

Can I send new customer acquisition campaigns?

Yes! Only PostPilot offers MailMatch™, our exclusive technology to match email addresses with physical mail addresses using a proprietary algorithm and dataset. Target and convert high-intent prospects who have never purchased, with personalized postcards. Acquire new customers where email and digital ads can’t reach. And you always get all of the powerful, exclusive features of the PostPilot platform.

Currently, for US based customers, you can use MailMatch™ to obtain physical addresses for your email prospects. You'd pay a lot to a 3rd party data provider for this information and it still wouldn't include our secret sauce that maximizes accuracy.

How does pricing work?

Our Free plan enables you to connect your Shopify store, check out the PostPilot platform, and analyze your data using our data reports.

To unlock full use of the platform (including sending postcards from $0.50, fully managed services, and our features like MailMatchTM and SiteMatchTM), our Pro plan is priced from $419/month.

To cover the cost of sending mail, simply add funds to your account with a credit card and enable auto-renew to ensure your balance never runs out. Each time a card is sent out, it will deduct the cost from your balance.

Is there a minimum number of cards I can send?

If you've used Klaviyo or any marketing automation, you know how easy it is to set up triggered email campaigns when a user takes a certain action. PostPilot works the same way. Use our simple, yet powerful segment builder to define the audience you want to target. When a customer meets your selected criteria for the first time, PostPilot will fire off an individually personalized card. It’s 1:1 direct mail at scale. Just set it and forget it. You can also sync the lists and segments you’ve built in Klaviyo with PostPilot.

Are the cards eco-friendly?

PostPilot is committed to sustainability and environmentally-friendly practices. We use recycled material in our cards and source paper only from FSC-certified (Forest Stewardship Council) mills. We work with our partners at Veritree to plant double the number of trees used to create PostPilot campaigns.

What type of cards do you offer?

We currently offer 3 sizes of postcards:

  • 4" x 6"
  • 6" x 9"
  • 6" x 11"

All of our postcards are full-color, two-sided, full bleed and UV coated on the front, on 12pt stock.

We also offer new 4"x6" handwritten cards, created by our proprietary robots. (Yep, we said robots.) You can add a full color, full bleed custom design to the front of your ultra-premium stationery, with your logo and contact info on the back.

Additionally, we offer CardalogsTM, our reinvention of the catalog. Cardalogs are trifold (six total panels of space), 10.5" x 17.25", and printed at the same quality of our postcards.

Did you say you also have handwriting robots? Tell me more.

Our new handwritten cards use our proprietary robotic technology with real pens with real ink to write your cards with the personality of a human hand. Heck, even the envelope is handwritten and affixed with a real stamp. All of our handwriting styles have dynamic variations for letters, spacing, and indentation. No card ever looks the same. You have to see it to believe it! It’s less like the Terminator, more like your own personal robot secretary.

Do I need a designer?

Nope. PostPilot is super simple to use, even if you don’t have graphic design skills. Create a campaign in a matter of minutes by using our dozens of fully customizable templates and our user-friendly drag and drop design editor. If you’ve created an email, you can create a postcard or handwritten card. Of course, you can also upload any images you wish to use or a complete card design. We also offer free professional design services for anyone on a monthly plan.

Can I personalize my cards?

Absolutely, and we encourage it! The ability to add personalized text fields is built in to our user-friendly design tool. You can also easily add personalized elements to uploaded designs.

What is PostPilot AI?

PostPilot AI is our new suite of powerful features to make you even more money with direct mail and provide unique insights about your customers.

Aggregated  transactional data will be used to train our AI products and make them work better for everyone. No PostPilot customer can ever access another’s data, nor can they specifically target any other brand’s customers. Think Meta for direct mail. AcquisitionAI’s AI-powered algorithms are fed by a dataset of billions of 3rd party attributes and intent signals on hundreds of millions of consumers and households. It may well be the richest, most current, and most powerful dataset for direct mail ever created.

How does it work?

AcquisitionAI leverages data comprised of thousands of attributes plus intent and transactional signals. Our AI analyzes your best customers and finds more prospects that have many of the same attributes, behave the same, and have shown intent for similar products.

Can I push this data to digital channels?

What is RetentionAI?

RetentionAI is a machine-learning model developed by our team of data scientists to win back the right customers at the right time.

RetentionAI uses a sophisticated machine learning model to determine which of your buyers are likely to convert off of a direct mail piece, and when the best time is to target them.

What data does a RetentionAI campaign use?

Do you just send to customers that were going to buy anyway?

No. Our models are optimized to identify customers who are at high risk of defecting and unlikely to come back on their own.

LifeMatch™

What is LifeMatch™ ?

LifeMatch allows you to target customers and prospects based on major life milestones.

Currently, we offer the ability to send birthday cards to customers, with many more events to follow such as getting married, having children, moving, and more.

Using a proprietary dataset, we find birthdays for your customers and automatically send them a postcard or handwritten note.

How can I kick off a birthday campaign?

What if I already have my customers’ birthdays?

Will the postcard land on their birthday?

In the world of physical mail, it is impossible to time the exact delivery date. However, we time the send to ideally arrive no later than someone’s birthday. (We’d rather it arrive early than late!)

What should I put on the card?

Wish your customer a happy birthday! And most brands include a special birthday “gift” in the form of an incentive.

What if it’s not actually their birthday?

We do our best to get the most accurate birthday data available. We never just guess, and if we don’t know someone’s birthday, we don’t send the card. However, on occasion, the data may be incorrect. However, even if it’s not your birthday, wouldn’t you still appreciate a nice discount?

Category Insights

How do I get access to Category Insights?

You’ll automatically see these reports when you’re opted into PostPilot AI. If you just added the PostPilot app, it may take 1-2 days for the Shopify data to sync.

Where do you get the benchmark data?

We use fully anonymized data from other stores. There must be at least 10 brands in the category before any insights are available, and no brand specific data is ever shared.

How do I get access to Insights?

You’ll automatically see these reports when you’re opted into PostPilot AI. If you just added the PostPilot app, it may take 1-2 days for the Shopify data to sync.

Where do you get the consumer data?

We utilize a variety of aggregated 3rd party datasets containing thousands of attributes for millions of consumers. We match your customers against this dataset to identify their common characteristics.

Privacy and Security

Why do I need to be opted-in to use PostPilot AI features?

Our models are trained on massive amounts of 3rd party data plus aggregated and anonymized data from thousands of brands. Participants then get the benefits of this enhanced data. Participant data is never shared with any other participant, ever.

What does being opted-in mean?

It means that you agree to let PostPilot use your data for the purpose of delivering the PostPilot AI suite of capabilities. Learn more here.

How can I opt in?

What if I don’t want to be opted in?

You can opt-out here at any time. PostPilot AI-specific features will no longer be available, but you can still run any and all campaign types as usual.

Am I sharing my customers?

Absolutely not. 

All data is solely used to train our AI models and provide supplemental data points on consumers who are already present in our datasets. Your transactional signals are simply one more data point and boost the collective power of this data, along with thousands of other brands, the same way Meta and Shopify Audiences do targeting. 

Furthermore, this data is never shared with brands or participants, and we never allow targeting of a specific brands’ customers.

Can I target other brands’ customers?

No, we do not allow that as a targeting criteria. No brands will ever be able to target your customers.

What brands are participating in PostPilot AI?

We never disclose any participants or anything that might identify a participant, period.

What do I need to do to be compliant from a privacy compliance perspective?

We are not your lawyers and we can't provide legal advice. However, we put together some draft language that you could potentially add to your Privacy Policy or Privacy Notice, if you don't have similar language in there already. You can find it here.

Where can I send to in the UK?

Our UK production facility services customers inside the UK. If you're a UK or US based company looking to send to your UK customers, your cards will be sent from the UK for local postage and faster delivery.

Do you offer a done for you service in the UK?

Yes! Pro plan subscribers get our fully managed service including strategy, setup, and optimisation, plus unlimited creative services.

How much does it cost in the UK?

We currently charge in USD. For Pro plan subscribers, our A5 cards cost just $0.59 USD or approximately £0.48 based on current exchange rates. That is your all-in cost (postage & printing).
